YMCA of the Fox Cities is piloting a new class called “Friday Night Fun Club,” an acceptance-for-all program offered for children with special needs who are between the ages of 7-13! This class will be held weekly each Friday night, 6:30-8:30 pm, from September 9 through October 21st.
Since this is a brand new program, enrollment for this pilot session will be limited to just 8 students. PLEASE be understanding if this first session fills up quickly due to the small enrollment, as the YMCA will be working hard to shape this offering to be the best it can be for future sessions!
Program description: “Friday Night Fun Club has been designed to develop awareness of the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. A core facet of the program will involve training the kids on how to use the resistance equipment in our Fit Zone area. Our class will teach kids how to use the machines properly, provide them an opportunity to hang out with peers, develop some new relationships, and have fun together. Our syllabus will include a mix of fitness, wellness, nutrition, and social learning opportunities. Classes will be structured in two segments: first hour is a fitness activity and second hour a wellness-themed activity. We have staffed the program to allow drop-off, where parents have a couple hours to either go grocery shopping, go out to dinner, or to just relax. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to stay to provide support, if preferred.”
Registration must be coordinated directly with the Neenah-Menasha YMCA by phone at 920-729-9622. Due to the inclusive nature of this class, an intake form will be required for all participants to ensure the YMCA is prepared to accommodate each individual child’s needs.
